Background
In september 2009 at Pieksämäki started a Living village -service (The Emotion-aal Village). This service is funded by Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) -program. AAL is co-program for 23 european countries. For Finland funding and decision making is controlled by TEKES. AAL program tries to encourage new innovatins for elderly people. These innovations are focused to improve and help every day life.

The participants for this AAL project are College from Pieksämäki (Diak) and ActiveSoft Oy from Varkaus. Crucial part for this project is testing. There is a pilot village near Pieksämäki which is selected for this pilot. The pilot area is called Siikamäki-Peiposjärvi. In addition there is a lot of feedback from different companies and users. Main partners for Diaconia University of Applied Sciences and ActiveSoft Oy come from Germany and from Austria.
